Molymin PHYSIOLOGY: Molybdenum is a trace mineral that is found in all tissues of the human body and is required for the activity of several enzymes. The molybdenum activated enzyme sulfite oxidase detoxifies sulfites. Sulfiting agents are extensively used as food preservatives and accumulations of sulfites in the body are toxic to the nervous system. Uric acid is produced by the molybdenum activated enzyme xanthine oxidase. Uric acid is a powerful antioxidant and a scavenger of singlet oxygen and hydroxyl radicals. INDICATIONS: Molybdenum is an essential trace mineral and supplementation may be necessary for optimal health especially if the diet is high in processed foods containing sulfites. Note: Extremely high doses of molybdenum--540 mcg. (more than 10 Molymin capsules)-have been associated with significant loss of copper.
