PHYSIOLOGY: Vitamin E is an antioxidant which prevents the breakdown of fatty acids and Vitamin A. It likewise can unite with oxygen and inhaled pollutants to prevent the formation of dangerous peroxides thereby making pure oxygen available to the red blood cells and subsequently to the heart and other tissues. For highest anti-oxidant action the non-esterified form E-400 Sesame #K984 or E-1000 I.U. #K953 should be used. Vitamin E is an important factor in cellular respiration, an effective anticoagulant, a vasodilator and it strengthens capillary walls. In addition, Vitamin E prevents the formation of elevated scar tissue. It has diuretic properties (thereby helping to lower blood pressure), and it has a beneficial effect on the male and female reproductive systems. For more detailed information on Vitamin E or any other vitamin, see McGraw Hill's "Nutrition Almanac".
