PHYSIOLOGY: Bilberry is rich in vitamin C. The anthocyanins are responsible for the major action of Bilberry. Among them, we find a vitamin P action. It is known that Vitamin P does not correspond to a chemically defined vitamin, but is a group of properties which provide vascular, capillary and venous protection. This protection acts on two levels, it increases the capillary resistance and decreases the capillary permeability. Bilberry berries are rich in carbohydrates, tannin, and vitamin A and C. Bilberry is an astringent and has antibacterial action on the intestines.
